Alan Young, the voice of Scrooge McDuck, has died.
I can’t count how many afternoons I sat in front of the television at my great-grandmother’s apartment and watched DuckTales; he was Scrooge McDuck and his voice suited the character perfectly. I never had the chance to meet him and tell him how much I enjoyed his work and how much it mattered to me.
I’ll say it here and now: thank you, Mr. Young. DuckTales wouldn’t have been the same without you. You will be sorely missed.

About Silverwynde
I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
Too bad about his passing. I enjoyed Ducktale’s run from 1987-1990, Always preferred Scrooge McDuck over Flintheart Glomgold. 🙂

To me, Alan Young will always be Scrooge. That voice is iconic; to know that it’s been silenced is a tragedy. 😦
