Yesterday was Prime Day on Amazon. You know, it’s the day when Amazon offers some amazing deals to Prime members. This has been going on for the last few years and Prime and I haven’t really taken advantage of it.
Last night, that changed.
We’re now waiting on our order of Kindle Fire tablets. Yeah. We jumped. Don’t ask. Just don’t ask.
So if you see me at HasCon, I’ll probably be carrying a bright yellow Kindle decorated with an Autobot sigil. Because yellow reminds me of Bumblebee and blogging via tablet will be a lot easier than dealing with a laptop. Prime will also be able to get back to some online gaming, as Alexa-1 is simply too old and outdated to handle them now. She’s still functional for what I want to do, but for what Prime wants to do, she can’t perform. It isn’t Alexa’s fault; she’s just outdated. Vista isn’t supported anymore. She can’t handle updates. But for basic web surfing and blogging, she’s fine.
This also means I might simply leave Alexa here during the convention. I’ll probably shut her down before we leave–that just makes sense–but I’m leaning towards letting her stay home. She’s getting old and honestly? We’ve had an incident with hotel wifi that makes me think she’s having trouble handling that. (Our stay in St. Charles, IL in 2015? I wasn’t able to blog while I was there at all. The wifi wouldn’t let us on until the last day we were there.)
I feel a little badly for this; we’ve taken Alexa to a lot of conventions. It’s like she’s part of our “crew”. She’s been to a lot of BotCons and now, taking a tablet instead of Alexa feels slightly off.
I’m still taking Slumblebee, though. In that small way, things aren’t going to change. Hope to see you there.
