A Very Small HasCon Update

We have a minor, rather small update on the guests front for HasCon, which was announced via Facebook: Mark Wahlberg will be there. He’ll be there for the movie portion of the Transformer VIP events. Some have asked if he’ll be giving autographs. Some have said that this is a good fit for the show. So there have been a few positive comments.

The rest have been either neutral or outright negative. Most fans were not at all impressed by The Last Knight; it seems that plenty want to distance themselves from the film. So no, this doesn’t seem to be going over all that well.

I don’t know what to think about all of this. In my area, The Last Knight is out of theatres. Not even the cheap seats have it. Worldwide, it’s made nearly $600 million. No, that isn’t terrible but for a movie franchise that has hit a billion easily, this is disappointing. It looks as though it may have broken even but that’s about it.

It’s more than a little safe to say that no one really wanted to attend the movie event, which is why both of them got rolled into one night. But other than that, I really don’t know what to think. Yes, it’s great that Hasbro finally got a guest that makes some damn sense but the reception is lacking.

I almost wish I was going, just to see this portion of the train wreck. For reasons. Too bad that won’t happen.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we are both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat. Life is pretty darned awesome.

While I’m happy at the chance to meet Mark Wahlberg, more TF-centric guests would be much better.

Yeah, these guests are, for lack of a better term, odd. This has been one of the few additions that has made sense.

I get that this is an “all about Hasbro” convention, but shouldn’t more of the guests be Hasbro centered? Because a number of them are not.

      Two words: Train. Wreck.
