I Quit the World

Not you too, Angela: Angela Lansbury: attractive women ‘must sometimes take the blame’ for sexual harassment.

“There are two sides to this coin. We have to own up to the fact that women, since time immemorial, have gone out of their way to make themselves attractive. And unfortunately it has backfired on us – and this is where we are today.

“We must sometimes take blame, women. I really do think that. Although it’s awful to say we can’t make ourselves look as attractive as possible without being knocked down and raped,” the 92-year-old told Radio Times.

Well, I’ll never watch the animated Beauty and the Beast again. Because with that statement, the vintage Disney film seems a little skeevy. But this is really telling:

Dame Angela said she had not suffered any harassment during her time as a young actress in Hollywood, where she was signed to MGM studios and earned an Oscar nomination for her first role, in the 1944 film Gaslight.

Wow, privileged much? It never happened to me so if it happens to other people then it’s their fault? Because that’s what I’m reading here.

That’s it. I’m done. Time to watch some cute animal vids. Or maybe the live action Beauty and the Beast, since that seems to confuse Miss Lansbury.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
