Something Borrowed

I found a new/old tech bag not too long ago. By “new”, I mean I have a new use for it and by “old”, I mean that I’ve owned this bag for 17 years. That’s not a joke; inside one of the pockets for this bag, I found the itinerary for both Prime and my own flight to Durham, NC for BotCon 2001. Like I said, the bag is 17 years old. Only now, I have a use for it; it can be a tech bag for my tablet and its accessories.

I put in for Pete’s Robo Con. I’m planning on using the remainder of my vacation for the weekend, as well as the Thursday before the show. I have a Timber Rattlers game on that day; it makes no sense to ask for a regular day off then put in for vacation afterwards.

Upon listening to the latest Cognitive Dissonance, I think I understand why I feel the way I do. The episode dealt with depression and anxiety; apparently, social bonds can help with those conditions. One of the things that helps with them? Being somewhere among people who recognize you. Now, one of the places I’m recognized is BotCon. I feel like I belong when I’m there. So basically, Hasbro picked a shitty time to shut it down. Considering the crap I’ve been through, having BotCon would give me something to look forward to and enjoy. But I don’t have that anymore.

Winter won’t leave us alone. We had a storm that dumped snow on us and we may have another one Friday. This might be bad news for the Timber Rattlers home opener. We’ll have to wait and see.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
