April Showers

It’s been nearly two weeks since we were digging out from nearly two feet of snow. Hard to believe, I know. So what better way to celebrate than taking in a baseball game?

The field is clear, as you can see. Apparently, not long after the blizzard, the grounds crew busted their tails to get the snow removed. The Timber Rattlers were making sure to keep us apprised via Facebook, posting updates and pictures when they could. However, one of our home series–versus the Kane County Cougars–was moved to Peoria, Illinois due to the weather.

That series didn’t go the Rattlers’ way, to put it bluntly. But to be quite honest, the home opener wasn’t very good either. It’s early in the season; we have time.

As you can see, Prime and I are in the Fox Club. Even though it’s a Friday night game, it’s a lot quieter than it was three weeks ago. We have plenty of room and had no problems finding a table. Complete sea change compared to our last outing.

We’ve had some rain today; enough of it that I was afraid the game might be cancelled. Thankfully, the weather decided to cooperate with us and slacked off around 1800.

Oh and tonight is a giveaway night. What’s being handed out? A Timber Rattlers-themed umbrella. I’m not kidding.

If you look closely, you can see some piles of snow in the background. I doubt that will be melted by the end of this month. Also, the parking lot isn’t exactly filled to capacity.

Currently, the Rattlers lead the Peoria Chiefs 6 to 0. Seems the Chiefs’ starting pitcher wasn’t in the zone tonight, so he came out early. But not before the Rattlers took advantage of this opportunity. Here’s hoping that the score won’t change much or, if it does, it’s the Rattlers adding on more runs.

**EDIT** 2126: Final score: 15 to 5, Timber Rattlers.

**POSTGAME EDIT** 2255: Remember those umbrellas we were given? Prime’s been using them… as gigantic chopsticks. I am not joking.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
