Apparently, Rosanne went on a rather racist–and conspiracy theorist–Twitter rant. She claimed that Chelsea Clinton was married to one of George Soros’ nephews, then made a ridiculously racist comment about a former Obama aide, who just so happened to be African-American. So ABC, with a bit of egg on its face, mercifully pulled the plug, but only after Wanda Sykes and Sara Gilbert distanced themselves from Rosanne.
Color me surprised. Oh, wait. I’m not.
If you know anything about Rosanne Barr, you might remember how she went after atheists while on Twitter and said some extremely nasty things about them. Even worse, she was quick to block those who didn’t agree with her or asked for some actual facts behind her claims. Granted, being an atheist is a choice, but this was a pretty good symptom of a larger problem. It was pretty obvious if you paid attention that Rosanne was a fairly terrible person with fairly terrible ideas. That was one of the major reasons that I made sure to avoid the new show; I didn’t want to support someone who had opinions that awful.
Too bad ABC didn’t figure that out sooner. You can see I feel bad for all parties involved in this debacle. Newsflash: I really don’t.
