Scientific Notations

Random fact: the spiky end of a stegosaur’s tail is known as a thagomizer, named for the late Thag Simmons. Yes, that is a Far Side reference and it’s amazing what you’ll learn watching PBS on YouTube.

Prime’s been spending most of the day playing a Transformers game he downloaded from Google Play; he seems to be doing decently enough. At least it takes his mind off of his health, as he managed to catch a cold from the person working the drive-thru window at Burger King. A word of caution: if your hands are full, never place anything handled by someone else in your mouth, not even a receipt. You’re just asking for trouble if you do. Prime learned that the hard way.

There’s word that Sears is closing more of its stores, which isn’t good. Even worse? One of the stores in question is located not terribly far from us. It’s located in the Fox River Mall, which has already lost one flagship store, Younkers. So that’s two large retail areas that are going to be empty. I hate to say it, but that’s one hell of a blow to the mall.

I can remember when going to the mall was the done thing. If you were a teen in the 1990s, a good number of weekends were spent, wandering the wings of the local shopping center, especially if you were female. I admit it: I was a bit of a mall rat. Hell, I spent a lot of time there when I was in my twenties! But that was back when mixed media stores, book stores and the occasional toy store were incorporated into the structure. I had prime hunting grounds for new Calvin and Hobbes volumes and Transformers. Now, you can find almost everything on Amazon. I don’t know how I feel about that.

We’ve been getting snow, but it isn’t sticking around. The pavement and the ground itself are simply too warm for it. Normally, I wouldn’t be too upset about this, but I fear that we may have another ridiculously huge snowstorm in the middle of April, similar to last winter, which would suck. Massively. But, anthropogenic climate change just isn’t a real thing, according to every non-scientist out there. 🙄

Currently, I’m trying to knock out another go-round on the Arceus exploration on GPX+. I’ve forgotten just how much a pain in the ass that one can be.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
