Take Me Out

Yesterday was a day off for me and normally I would simply stay at home and relax, since it’s been a long week.

Not yesterday. For very good reasons.

Yesterday was the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers fan-fest; free and open to the public, we could watch the team workout and take in a scrimmage with the Loons. There would also be a chance for autographs from the team afterwards and we could buy swag bags for $20 a piece. So you can guess where I was at 13:00 on Tuesday.

A shot of the squad, working out and getting ready for the scrimmage. As you can see, there weren’t many people in the stadium, probably due to a combination of the weather and the day.

Some of the action on field. The Loons did very well defensively, but seemingly couldn’t get anything done offensively. But it was a lot of fun to watch them play.

A shot of the field from my vantage point. I was able to watch the pitchers and catchers playing catch between innings as well as hearing the outfielders chatting. That’s something I’ve never experienced before and it was cool.

The game ran a bit late; both teams used every pitcher available. But once the game was done, I got in line for autographs. (One of our new players was sporting a Brewers spring training hoodie. The poor guy had just gotten here from Arizona; I apologized for the Wisconsin weather!)

Was it fun? You better believe it. Does it get me hype for the Home Opener this Saturday? Damn straight it does. Another year of Timber Rattlers baseball. Life can’t get much better than that.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
