By now, you’ve heard about the passing of Peter Mayhew.

There isn’t a lot that I can say: Star Wars was huge when I was a child and Chewie was popular. No, not as popular as Vader but he was well loved. I had often thought that if I could get into that universe and I couldn’t hang out with the Droids, I’d have spent time with Chewbacca. I thought we’d hit it off fairly well and would have been easy company. Unfortunately, I was thoroughly stuck in this universe, devoid of Droids, Wookies and Jedi, so I never had that chance.

Now, a little bit of my childhood has died. And the world seems all the darker for it.

Thanks for the memories, Mr. Mayhew. You’ll be greatly missed.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
