This is so true, it’s painful.
We are completely out of toilet paper. We’re even running low on the industrial strength stuff that’s usually just purchased for business/resale use. Supposedly, we’re not supposed to sell more than five cases of that stuff, but the system isn’t flagging it, so members are taking advantage of this. It’s bad enough to where our Maintenance person had to run out and grab one of the last boxes we had on the sales floor, so we could have some for the weekend.
We’re not the only ones having to deal with this sort of thing; Bath and Body Works has been cleaned out of hand sanitizer. Walmart is almost out of bleach and disinfectant wipes. I have no idea how Target is holding up, but I’m certain that they’re in the same situation as the rest of us.
Yeah, it’s bad. Seriously bad. But it’s only going to get worse before it gets better. I have no idea what this may hold for Opening Day, which is a little over two weeks away.
I’m still going, because I’m pretty much at risk for exposure anyway; I’m working with the general public, just like I did at Walmart, so I’m running the risk of exposure just going to work. Before you ask: yes, I am taking precautions. I’m using hand sanitizer. I’m wiping down any hard surfaces I can. If I’m at the door, I’m wiping down the spill cart, the counter, the clipboards, the markers, the radios. Anything that may have been handled by multiple parties, I’m trying to sanitize. It feels like a losing battle at times, but I’m not simply standing by, doing nothing.
I haven’t been keeping an eye on the Spring Training games in Arizona. Most of them haven’t been televized and I keep forgetting to switch on my MLB app on my phone. It also doesn’t help that my hours are all over the place; that’s the other reason why Prime and I skipped getting the season tickets package for the Timber Rattlers. My schedule is far too unpredictable to make those tickets worthwhile, which is a pity. We’re planning on simply grabbing tickets on nights when I get off of work early or I have a day off, so we know we can actually use them.
The week of Opening Day, I have three 17 to 22 shifts, which sucks. But I’m off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Four days. I’m off four days and two of them are vacation days, so they’re paid. I feel as if I’m wasting them. The greedy part of me wants to hold on to that time and use it next year for BotCon, but I know I can’t; if I don’t use my vacation before August, some of it will end up being cashed out. So yeah, use it or lose it on a yearly basis.
I get to use my vacation for BotCon next year. It’s overwhelming, to say the least; I’ve been waiting for this for far too long.
Five years. BotCon will have been gone for five years when it finally comes back. Next year will be five years since the last convention. That’s five years too long. On the plus side, it’s going to be one hell of a family reunion in 2021 and I can barely wait.
