Status Update Version 1.1.1

Actually, I think we found August.

Okay, so normally, this would be a “Seven Quick Takes Friday” post but I decided against it for this week. Because I owe you an explanation for the lack of decent posts this week. It all started on Tuesday.

Tuesday I had a doctor’s appointment; everything went well with that. But after I left the doctor’s office, I started feeling a little bit off, if you will. And by “off”, I mean, “more than a little nauseous”. I knew that wasn’t a good sign, so I headed across the street to a nearby grocery store and grabbed some lunch, along with some cold drinks. I had fully intended to drink one of them–a bottle of cranberry juice–much later, but I couldn’t stop myself. I pretty much drained it within five minutes of my arrival at the bus stop. I caught the bus, headed downtown to wait for the route that would get me home, and ate lunch.

I had a turkey and cheese croissant, with mustard. It was good. Very good. I felt slightly better after eating, so I figured I’d gotten through the worst of it.

I was wrong. Sweet Primus, was I ever wrong.

The rest of the night was uneventful but the next morning was not. I had to work later in the day, so I caught some extra sleep in the meantime. When I woke up, I definitely didn’t feel right. The nausea had come back. So I kept still until it passed. Then, I got up to head to the bathroom.

I ended up hanging my head over the sink, wretching. My stomach was empty but I still kept straining to pull something, anything, up. When I was done, I stumbled out of the bathroom and back into the bedroom, collapsed in bed and sent Prime a message: “Make appointment for Urgent Care. Please. Just vomited.”

After Prime asked me about my symptoms, he told me to get dressed and he’d be home AQAP. I pulled on some clothes, pulled my hair back, and sat outside, feeling miserable.

It didn’t take long for me to be seen; I explained my symptoms and told the attending doctor that I’d just recovered from a UTI. The doctor examined me, then said he was going to push on my back and to tell him if it hurt.

He did. And it did. Yeesh, did it ever hurt!

Seems like the infection headed north and decided to take up residence in my kidneys, which was why I felt so bad. I needed another round of antibiotics, an injection of antibiotics, rest, and fluids. Oh, and I won’t be due back at work until next week; the infection was that bad.

So that’s why I haven’t been posting so much lately. I’ve been resting a lot and drinking more,–as well as watching a lot of Star Trek: the Animated Series to fight off the boredom–which drinking so much can be difficult when my stomach feels overwhelmed. But I feel better now than I did Wednesday, so I think I’ll be alright.

This means that I will be drinking a lot more water at work and home. For reasons. That should be obvious.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
