Didn’t See That Coming

In the immortal words of Bender: We’re boned.

It’s official: Robo-Con has gone virtual. There’s even a virtual con package so you can get the BotCon exclusives without a lot of worry.

I pretty much expected this. There really was no way that a large gathering of people would be allowed in a hotel for a convention. It’s far too risky right now and we’re still seeing coronavirus infections skyrocket. This is definitely the right call.

I worry for BotCon, though.

There’s no way of knowing whether or not we’ll have a vaccine for coronavirus by next year. Even then, there are a shitload of people who won’t take it. This garbage is going to stay around for a very long time and that scares me.

It’s a cluster. The whole thing is an absolute cluster. I don’t see it getting better any time soon.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
