True, but it’s also my blogiversary. Can you believe it? So yeah, let’s have some drinks!
Technically, I’ve been blogging for the past fifteen years; I started my first blog in June of 2005. I started it in order to deal with the sheer stupidity of my job. I was a cashier at Walmart and I dealt with a lot of crap in a typical day. I tried to make at least one post per week, but I didn’t really do such a good job. There were times I was too busy or too distracted to put words onto virtual paper. I made BotCon reports, talked about some of the more interesting customers I dealt with, and chatted about geeky things. It was fun.
That blog is now my husband’s; he can do with it as he sees fit. I might miss it a little, but it’s for the best.
I did take some time off, but I realized that I truly enjoyed blogging. I wanted to keep going. So I made the move here.
When I started this blog, I was stuck working at a Subway. I had been fired from Walmart–due in no small part to some shady dealings by management and asset protection–and had been a seasonal hire at Target. My life was in a state of flux.
My first post here was nothing remarkable; it dealt with a bad day at work and a resulting trip to the ballpark to catch a Timber Rattlers game. It wasn’t spectacular or memorable but it was my first.
This blog has seen me through a new job at Costco, a breast biopsy, the revelation of shady dealings at my old Walmart, the fall and return of BotCon, and the current administration, if you can call it that. It’s hosted kitten videos, the openings for cartoons and television shows, geeky thoughts and ruminations, quick takes on the week, as well as compilations of information and news articles. It’s become a home for me on the internet and I love it.
So in the coming year, there will be more of the same. Cute cat videos, geeky thoughts, and more. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in the insanity. It’s appreciated, believe me.
Here’s to another year.
