Up and Running

More than meets the eye.

On Monday, the self checkouts were installed; Tuesday they were programmed. On Wednesday, they were up and running. More or less. At one point on Wednesday night one of them was shut down. It was acting up already.

Not even a day and we have a “problem child”. Most self checkouts have at least one. Sometimes, they have multiples. But there’s always at least one problem child in the group.

I haven’t been trained on them yet. Supposedly, only cashiers will run them.

I wonder how long that will last. Because I have all ideas that some cashiers won’t enjoy working with them. It was like that at Walmart.

I hope I get my chance. These look to be easier than the ones I’m used to, as they don’t take or dispense cash. Give me one day with them and I’ll have nicknames for all of them. They’ll probably be Decepticon names, but still.

If I have to beg, I’ll do it. I have a good idea of what I’m doing on self check. Not only that, I’ll enjoy it.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
