When I got into work this morning, I noticed that the tables for the Food Court were back. We had them removed and placed in the steel last year; because of Covid, we couldn’t have any of the members eating in the building. So everything from the Food Court was ‘to-go’ and our samples were put on hiatus. It just wasn’t a good idea to eat in a public place with other people around.
Now we’re slowly going back to ‘normal’. I don’t think I’m ready yet.
As you know, I did get my Fauci Ouchie; it was the J&J vaccine. I’m fully vaccinated. But I haven’t stopped social distancing and I’m still wearing my masks. There’s at least one new Covid variant that’s been discovered in Vietnam; this one seems to be more communicable. I might be vaccinated, but vaccines aren’t 100% effective. There have been reports of people still catching Covid after being fully vaccinated and at least one person died.
I’m not ready to say that this pandemic is over. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but we’re not through this yet. I’m thinking we might not be completely in the clear until March of next year. There are still some people who won’t get vaccinated and others who only got one dose of their two dose vaccine, so they aren’t fully protected. We might not be seeing a drop in Covid cases, but if we’re not careful and don’t take these variants seriously, things could change quickly. It’s not a pleasant thought.
I keep buying masks at work. We still have plenty. I managed to pick up some cloth masks from a local Walmart yesterday; they had been knocked down to 10¢ from $4.97 but weren’t moving. People aren’t buying them.
I jumped at the chance. If I spot any more, I’ll grab them. I have an awful suspicion that we’ll be living with Covid for a while yet. Something like this doesn’t just disappear overnight, no matter what a ‘very stable geen-yus’ might claim.
