Asshat of the Week: Stupid Bowl Edition

Welcome to another edition of Asshat of the Week, where I find an asshat and let the known universe know that they are an asshat. This week’s asshat is none other than the Green Bay Packers’ own Aaron Rodgers.

It seems that Aaron Rodgers tested positive for Covid-19. At the start of the season, Rodgers claimed that he was “immunized” against Covid, but never said he was vaccinated.

“Rodgers, 37, had an alternate treatment prior to the start of training camp, sources told ESPN, and he then petitioned the NFL for that treatment to allow him to be considered the same as someone who received one of the approved vaccinations. After a lengthy back-and-forth, the league, the players union and an infectious disease consultant approved by both parties heard Rodgers’ case for an exemption and ruled that he would not get the same consideration and would be considered unvaccinated.”

So, no. He never got the jab. As if this couldn’t get worse:

“”You know, there’s a lot of conversation around it, around the league, and a lot of guys who have made statements and not made statements, owners who have made statements,” Rodgers said at the time. “There’s guys on the team that haven’t been vaccinated. I think it’s a personal decision. I’m not going to judge those guys. There are guys that’ve been vaccinated that have contracted COVID. It’s an interesting issue that I think we’re going to see played out the entire season.””

“He later added: “I think I like to learn about everything that I’m doing, and there was a lot of research that even went into that. But like I said, there’s been people that have tested positive, and I think it’s only vaccinated people here. It’s going to be interesting to see how things work moving forward. Obviously there could be some issues with vaccinated people only testing every couple weeks and then non-vaccinated testing every day.””

No, Aaron, it’s not the vaccinated people testing positive for Covid. But you know that now, don’t you? 🙄

Honestly? I think he should get a ban from playing for the rest of the season. He also doesn’t deserve an MVP award or a Superbowl ring or trophy or whatever. No, what he really deserves is one of these:

Congratulations, Aaron. You went above and beyond to earn this.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
