Packing Light

Over the weekend, I managed to pack up some of my toiletries: my deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, along with some OTC medications, were tucked into a pair of gallon sized freezer bags and are now sitting by my suitcase. I haven’t put them in the messenger bag yet; that will come later.

I also slipped some of my phone accessories into my fanny pack. They’re all still in the packaging but they’re all in one dedicated spot so I won’t lose them. It’s the same with my toiletries.

I don’t have everything ready yet. I need to get my masks in my suitcase, another empty gallon sized freezer bag for my dirty laundry, a couple of empty bags for the toiletries bag, and my prescription medication won’t be set aside until a few days before the trip. But the majority of the work is done. I’m damn close to “grab the bags and go”.

I’m on vacation this week. I don’t really consider it a true vacation; if I don’t use this time before the middle of August, I will lose it. So this is me just taking what is rightfully mine. I’ll also have a few days off in July, then my actual vacation will happen in late August.

The leaves will be changing by then. Summer ends fairly quickly in Wisconsin; it’s a short season but very intense.

I’ll be sending summer off while in Nashville.

There’s another guest: Gregg Berger. I’m tempted to buy a plush Odie and get it autographed for my mother. Because she’s an Odie fan.

It’s starting to sink in, become more real. I’m actually going to BotCon. This is happening. It hasn’t for so many years that it felt almost like a dream until recently. I’m going to BotCon.

As of right now, I’m all but ready to walk out the door.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
