Thanks to SDCC, we have another look at Transformers: EarthSpark , including the vocal cast. We even got a new trailer! So go ahead and give it a watch before we get into the good stuff.
-It’s Alan Tudyk, not Peter Cullen, as Optimus Prime this go-round. I don’t know exactly how I feel about this: I can’t help but wonder if Paramount is hedging their bets a bit in case the show runs longer than expected. Mr. Cullen is getting older and Paramount might have feared they would have to recast the role.
-Cybertronians are common knowledge on this Earth. I want to know why.
-I want that spread “Might of the Bumblebee “. It would make a great wallpaper for my phone.
-Yes, that is Elita-1. I’m actually happy as hell to have that verified. She became one of my favorite characters in the Netflix trilogy so I can’t wait to see her again.
-Yes, that is a black family. Do yourself a major favor and don’t go anywhere near the Facebook comments; what little faith you might have in humanity will evaporate rapidly.
Yeah. Plenty of “Wokeformers” and “We didn’t ask for this”. Apparently, a lot of these fans forgot about G1 Jazz and Blaster being voiced by a black man, or the very wheelchair bound Chip Chase, or Spike’s girlfriend Carly being a student at MIT, or Sari Sumdac from Animated, or Carlos from Armada or, well, I could go on but I think you’ve got the point. There’s been diversity in Transformers before. But it looks like a slagload of so-called fans completely missed that. Or they ignored it.
Representation matters. The world isn’t made up of only white people. Even I know that! But good luck telling these guys.
Whatever. The angrier these “fans” get, the more I want to see this. It’s going to be a long wait for the premiere. 🙂
