Fleeing the Ship

Dumpster fire not included

By now, you know that Twitter has a brand new owner and things seem to be going to shit fairly quickly, with hate speech spreading like wildfire, conspiracy theories being regurgitated by Muskrat himself, and Muskrat demanding that verified accounts should pony up cash to keep their blue checkmark. It’s an absolute shitshow.

Plenty of people are now migrating from the bird site to other similar sites. There’s even a couple of articles out there detailing the differences between these sites and the bird.

There’s been a fairly large uptick in activity on Mastodon. I’m logged in and posting. If you’re up for following, just click the Bumblebee avatar on the sidebar. It’ll take you directly to my profile.

Yes, it’s different from the bird site. It’s not really trying to be the bird site. Maybe that’s why I’m enjoying it more.

No, I haven’t logged out of the bird. I haven’t deleted my account. I’m going to keep it there so no one else can grab it and squat. I’m not letting it go so it can end up as a Putin-bot. There are far too many of those entrenched in the bird as it is and I won’t give them another. No, the account stays.

But I don’t know how often I will use it. It looks like for now, I’m happier with Mastodon.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
