Gold Bugs

I’m with you, kitty.

Scarlet and Violet were just released last Friday; I got my copies on Saturday and have been enjoying them since. To answer a couple of questions: Yes, you’re pretty much stuck in the school uniform and yes, you can change your character’s hair, eyes, face, and other characteristics immediately upon starting. Currently, my character is rocking teal hair, blue-grey eyes, the side braid, and freckles. Seriously, she looks adorable! But I digress.

Today, I decided to hunt down a Charcadet for my team, as I really want the Violet exclusive evolution. So I took to the wilds, scouring the land for the elusive Fire type.

Supposedly, it’s a common Pokémon. In my case, not so much. I found two and only successfully caught one of them. But again, I digress.

So while I was looking for the latest member of my team, I spotted an odd yellow Pokémon that I was certain was new and something I hadn’t yet caught. It was panicking as well, trying to dash away from me but I was able to catch up and battle it. I was surprised to see it was the new Bug Type Nymble.

It sparkled at the start of the battle. It was shiny.

I immediately yelped in shock and almost dropped my Switch Lite. But then I remembered that I had a grand total of three Balls in my bag. This was not even close to a guaranteed catch.

I pitched a Poké Ball at it. It kicked its way out. I had Black Cat hit it with a Leafage which took it to the yellow. So I threw my last Poké Ball at it and…

It was a critical throw. The Nymble jumped in and stayed. She was mine.

I named her Ransack. I hadn’t planned on using Nymble at all but well, here we are.

I sometimes wonder if I’m actually a magnet for shiny Pokémon. It sure seems that way.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.
