So this happened: Two board members of American Atheists are stepping down due to sexual harassment allegations. There’s a bit more about it over here, if you’re interested.
The first name is not familiar to me in the least, but I recognize the second name: Andrew Torrez. He’s been on the Scathing Atheist and God Awful Movies, as well as having his own podcast, Opening Arguments. He’s fairly well known among the Puzzle in a Thunderstorm group.
Here are more details. This goes into more detail as to what Torrez was doing. It’s disturbing, to say the least.
But what’s truly disturbing? There’s also rumors that the PiaT group might have known about this and kept quiet. If that’s true, then I’m appalled.
There’s going to be massive fallout from this. It’s probably going to get nasty. I’m already upset about this. I’m also wondering how in the hell the Transformers Fandom keeps attracting people like this. (Torrez is a Transformers fan. That’s very well known among the PiaT group.) My standards are so damn low that they’re a fucking distillery in hell but somehow people still can’t fucking meet them.
This is why we can’t have nice things. I’m just done with this. Just done.
