We left out later this morning than the last several. We had been shooting for a Cubs game at Wrigley Field but that didn’t work out, unfortunately. No, I’m not terribly disappointed; Wrigley is a day trip for me. We can hit the Chicago area a lot easier than trying to hit Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New York, or Detroit, so missing the chance to go to Wrigley Field isn’t too upsetting. There will be other games. Hell, I might even get lucky enough to see the Cubs, White Sox, and maybe even the Chicago Dogs. It’s only a few hours from where I live, so it’s not that huge a problem.
Those other stadiums? Yeah, how often am I going to be near Yankee Stadium? The twelfth of never, in the year ‘it ain’t happening again’. Perspective.
We took our time getting out of Michigan, as Prime wanted to hit some of the Meijers in the area. He’s looking for UNO Ultimate Marvel decks–namely She-Hulk–and Meijer sometimes has them. We actually did get lucky at one location and walked away with two Ant-Man and two Loki decks, so it was fairly productive. I also took a couple of naps while we were on the road, which helped me tremendously.
After that, we headed towards Chicago.
Traffic was awful, as always, but we managed to get through everything and, after fueling up at an Oasis Travel Plaza and getting dinner–Prime went for Taste of the Middle East–we headed to Wisconsin.
Yes, we actually saw that sign on the route back. It’s a real place. I have no idea if glassware is allowed there.
It was an uneventful trip home. Once we got past Racine, things started to look familiar, and we really didn’t need Google to guide us home. Once we got here, we took some of our bags out of Skids and got in the house. The first thing I did was snuggle with Lulu.
She’s fine. She doesn’t seem too upset by our absence, but she did let loose some meows when we got in the house. But she’s okay.
That does wonders for my anxiety, believe me.
Tomorrow will be dealing with the luggage and that sort of thing. It can wait. Right now, I’m going to relax and get some sleep.
After all, I have to start getting ready for next year’s convention.
Looking forward to visiting Chicagoland again. Hopefully make it to 1 of the ballgames.
As good as it was to travel and see some new places and familiar faces, it was great to be back home with Joe. As well as waking up in your bedroom vs. some hotel somewhere…
It never really truly ends! 🙂
