As you probably already know, today was the home opener for the Milwaukee Brewers. Now, the Crew started their season on the road in San Diego, taking on the Padres, where the Brewers got a sweep. I was hoping that the momentum would continue and I have the opportunity to see a win at Miller Park. However, it didn’t happen.
Although the Crew jumped out to an early lead in the second inning, the Cardinals came screaming back in the fifth inning as well as the sixth. That sixth inning was not pretty. Oh, it was not a good inning for the guys. I’m willing to bet that they would love to have that one back. Although the Crew got a pair of runs later, it just wasn’t enough. The Cardinals took the home opener 8-4.
Well, at least it wasn’t a shutout. There’s that, at least. But a loss is still a loss. And a sweep of the Red Birds would have been great.
Prime thinks of the Cardinals as the “peas” of Major League Baseball. Add them to the mix and they always make it suck. I am, of course, inclined to agree. It’s hard to say who I hate more: the Chicago Cubs or the St. Louis Cardinals. It’s about even right now.
However, all was not lost. I managed to score myself some Opening Day pins!
One is a straight up Opening Day motif while the other is an Opening Series pin. I freely admit it: I am a pin junkie. There’s something about them that I love. It’s the main reason I try and make it to Miller Park every year. A different year means different pins.
Also, the view wasn’t terrible:
I had a good vantage point overlooking the field. I kid you not, Miller Park doesn’t have a bad seat in the house. That stadium has great views all around. Is it any wonder why I love it there?
Seriously. It’s gorgeous.
Sure, we didn’t win the home opener–we haven’t since 2013–but that doesn’t bother me. We have a lot more baseball to play and more games to see. It’s only the beginning of a fantastic season.
