BotCon Road Trip Part One: JUST a Bit Outside

That was the scenery as Prime and I made our way into southern Wisconsin, heading to Ohio on our way to BotCon today.

We lit out fairly early this morning, getting on the road at 0845. The trip through Wisconsin was fairly uneventful and quick; we really didn’t hit traffic at all. Everything was going well.

Then we headed into Illinois and Indiana. Sweet Primus, I have no idea what was going on with their interstate highways, but they kept slowing down and backing up to the point of being ridiculous.

I’ve been saying this for years: Illinois will never complete any of their highway projects. Ever. The sun will go red giant and some poor idiot will be out there filling potholes as it happens.

But once we got out of that mess, we made good progress to Ohio and managed to get tickets to this lovely event:

Yes, we made it to Progressive Field, the home of the Cleveland Guardians.

I managed to take care of this:

It’s a page from our MLB Ballpark Pass-Port, which is similar to a regular passport, except you get this validated at various Major and Minor League stadiums. There’s add-ons, different versions, extra pages for postseason; if you’re curious, just click the link and take a look. It might be something you might find interesting or worth doing in your own spare time.

I also grabbed some souvenirs, natch. Pins. A nice handful of pins. I’ll try to post a picture or two later.

Tonight, the Guardians were up against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who, as you might remember, swept the Brewers.

Yeah, I wanted the Dodgers to lose and lose badly. For once, the baseball gods smiled upon me and granted my wish. Because even though the Dodgers took an early lead–scoring in the top of the first and the third–they lost the game badly.

The Guardians got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth, had a five run seventh, and tacked on an extra run in the bottom of the eighth, beating the Dodgers by a score of 3 – 8. It. Was. Glorious.

Sorry, still more than a little salty about that Brewers sweep. And the 2018 Postseason. Yeah, just a tiny bit salty over here. Don’t mind me.

Tomorrow, we’ll be heading to Pittsburgh to catch a Pirates game and get another page stamped. Then, we’ll try to get as close as we can to Jersey. Once there, we’re going to try for a Yankees game or maybe the Mets. We’ll see how it goes.

Baseball and BotCon. This might just end up being a permanent thing. ❤

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.

  1. deviceDude says:

I recall you 2 saying how road contruction thru Illinois never seems to ends . Nothing about that has changed.

Progressive Field for the Cleveland Guardians looks great. Hope to at least pass by it this June on my way to BC ’24.

Baseball and BotCon are a winning combination you 2. 🙂
