News: Both Good and Bad

The other day as I was getting out of the car, I pointed out to Prime that I smelled the odor of gas. Prime paused and looked up under our car, Scamper and noticed a drip. As you could imagine, it was gasoline. So we were looking at a fuel line problem. With BotCon so close, we realized that we would have to take of this, lest we may have to rent a car in order to make our way to the convention. We only hoped that it wouldn’t be terribly expensive.

Well, that was a vain hope: we’re looking at around $1400 here. Even worse? The repairs cost more than the value of the car. In other words, the day is rapidly coming that it will be cheaper to replace Scamper rather than to repair him.

That is not a pleasant thought.

To say I love that little car is stating the obvious; he’s been reliable and dependable. He’s the first vehicle that I myself have actually owned, even if I’ve never driven him. He even took a hit to the wheel well three years ago and spared me injury when Prime and I ended up in an accident. (And to the woman in the RAV-4? Yeah, we did not hit you. YOU hit US. Get that idiocy straight, you moron.) I have very fond memories of this car; he’s become a bit more than a car, as stupid as this sounds so the idea of looking for a replacement is upsetting.

On the plus side, Prime figures that the repairs will last for a while and the idea of getting a new car won’t happen for quite some time. That is good news. But it does mean that time with my little Scamper is limited.

I’m going to have take pictures. A lot of pictures. Sure, this might be months or years away but it’s still killing me.

I’m gonna go cry now.

About Silverwynde

I'm a Transformers fan, Pokémon player, Brewers fan and all-out general nerd. I rescue abandoned Golett, collect as many Bumblebee decoys and figures as I can find and I've attended every BotCon--official and non--since 1999. I'm also happily married to a fellow Transfan named Prime and we were both owned by a very intelligent half-Siamese cat, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 16, 2018. We still miss him. But we're now the acting staff of a Maine Coon kitty named Lulu, who pretty much rules the house. Not that we're complaining about that.

I know this is late, but its good to see Scamper was able to get you 2 down to Louisville, KY and back for BC ’16. Treasure those memories. 🙂
