In “You Can’t Make This Shit Up” news: The Republican National Convention website had to be corrected after including a photo of Ho Chi Minh City instead of the city of Milwaukee. Seriously.
A section on the Republican National Convention’s website included a background picture of Ho Chi Minh City, rather than Milwaukee, an error that was quickly fixed after a screenshot went viral on Tuesday.
Now, this error wasn’t recent; the picture had apparently been up since at least February but wasn’t addressed until today, when it went viral on Xitter.
The mistake was pointed out by a Boston Globe reporter Tuesday morning on X, formerly Twitter, racking up more than 400,000 views.
It’s been retweeted over a thousand times as well.
A Journal Sentinel reporter viewed the page and the image, which included the distinctive Bitexco Financial Tower in Vietnam’s most populous city, before it was corrected. It was replaced later when refreshing the page.
However, it’s still available via the Internet Archive, so if you really want to see it, you can.
Question: How TF does anyone screw this up this badly? Seriously? Just how? Google exists; type in what you need, and you can actually find it! Or was Google not even utilized in this case? I’m thinking the latter because I literally have no other explanation for a screw up of this magnitude. It’s honestly baffling.
